Biography

Dr Tracy Long DBA, MBA, BA, HonARAM

As founder of Boardroom Review, Tracy Long combines practical board experience with deep academic knowledge. She currently serves on the board of the DCMS (Department of Culture, Media and Sport), where she is chairman of the audit committee. She is an Honorary Senior Visiting Fellow of Cass Business School, and serves on the advisory board of the London Symphony Orchestra.

Tracy has served as an executive and a non-executive director on over 20 UK listed and unlisted company boards over the last twenty years, and has a doctorate in international corporate governance and board leadership. She has executive experience in media and financial services; she was a director of Classic FM, Central European Media Enterprises and BSkyB, and spent several years with Baring Brothers Corporate Finance and Botts & Co. At the end of 2009, she retired from the boards of Nesta (National endowment of Science, Technology and the Arts) and Lowland Investment Company plc.

In 2009 Tracy was an advisor to the Walker Report and the Financial Reporting Council's review of the Combined Code; she regularly presents workshops and seminars on board leadership and effectiveness for PWC, Cass Business School and Said Business School, Oxford (see resources). Her doctoral research on the roles and responsibilities of non-executive directors won the Keith MacMillan Prize for Research in 2005.

 

Ms Leigh Thomson-Persaud

Before joining Boardroom Review as PA, Leigh previously worked as an executive PA in the chairman's office at BP plc.  She is the chairman (London) for European Management Assistants (EUMA) and is currently studying towards a degree in business management.
