An independent evaluation of board performance and effectiveness
Dr Tracy Long DBA, MBA, BA, HonARAM
Tracy currently serves on the board of the DCMS (Department of Culture, Media and Sport), where she is chairman of the audit and risk committee. She is an Honorary Senior Visiting Fellow of Cass Business School, an HonARAM of the Royal Academy of Music, and regularly presents workshops and seminars on board leadership and effectiveness (see resources). In 2009 she was an advisor to the Walker Report and the Financial Reporting Council's review of the Combined Code.
Tracy has served as an executive and a non-executive director on over 20 UK listed and unlisted company boards over the last twenty years, often as a shareholder, or as a shareholder representative. She was a founding director of Avalon Productions and Classic FM, a director of BSkyB and Central European Media Enterprises, and spent several years with Baring Brothers Corporate Finance and Botts & Co. At the end of 2009, she retired from the boards of Nesta (National Endowment of Science, Technology and the Arts), Lowland Investment Company plc and the advisory board of the London Symphony Orchestra. Her doctoral research won the Keith MacMillan Prize for Research in 2005.

Desiree moved from the Netherlands to London in 1997 to work
for the President of GE Capital Europe.
